In the wake of all the controversy surrounding the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fiasco, it seems that boxing has all but forgotten an upcoming event that has the potential to be a genuine war.
Mosley vs. Berto promises to be a great match.
Former fighter of the year (2000) and current WBA Welterweight champion, Sugar Shane Mosley, will bring his skills to the ring against undefeated WBC Champion, Andre Berto on January 30.
Mosley has a record of 46 wins and 5 loses with 39 knockouts. He is currently listed as number 3 best pound for pound boxer by Ring Magazine and Bleacher Report.
If his performance looks anything like his January 24, 2009 annihilation of the iron-jawed Antonio Margarito, boxing fans have a real treat in store.
With a coveted combination of speed, agility and power, the 38 year old doesn’t look like an old boxer.
After vying for mega-fights with Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2009, his efforts yielded no results.
Instead, Mosley will be defending his title against undefeated WBC Welterweight titlist, Andre Berto. The 26 year old boasts an impressive record of 25 and 0 with 19 Knockouts.
The up and coming fighter is one who definitely has a bright future in the sport. A win over a great veteran like Shane Mosley would certainly catapult his career to new levels.
Berto possesses a swaggering style and usually swings his entire upper body behind his powerful hooks.
This fight promises to be one that fans will remember.
Though Berto has a significant age advantage over Mosley, I think that experience will be the most important factor.
I see a brutal battle that could have the kind of ebb and flow that every fight fan appreciates.
Berto may impose his will in the first half of the fight, but Mosley’s experience and speed will eventually take over.
I predict a win Mosley by late TKO.

this could be the good fight a real blood fight coz both fighter will do every single mean to stand up there… i can’t wait to see this fight on ppv….

before the fight on jan 30 there are plenty of distruction ahead though, rumors and gossip bout this two guys will air just to hype the situation but i wont take much load with some periperal activities to that day that could keep me away not to watch this fight on ppv…

If you have HBO, you won’t be paying anything extra to see this fight. It will be on HBO World Championship Boxing.

Good article but FYI … Mosley is not an undefeated fighter …. He has lost 5 fights (really 4 he beat Cotto) … Mosley by KO in … 5!

for the good of boxing, both mosley and berto should volunteer to take blood tests everyday until fight night; that should dampen (big time!) the excitement over that other real fight between pacquiao-clottey

i think GBP is in the stage of dilemma,they received a knock punch frm uncle bob, they wer suprise that TOP RANK organize a fight for PACMAN so easily…on the said schedule,now they scrumbling to look for a fighter for mayweather to cover there faces in the boxing fans,,to bad for MOSLEY he is the sacrificial lamb…thats show u how poor is the GBP during crunch- time…

But should be a good fight. I like both Fighters but I do think it was a bad move for Berto… he should wait a lil longer before fighting a Legend like that. He had a Hard time with Collazo.

Looking at the Mosley Margarito fight, Margarito with his hand wrapped checked wasn’t in that fight. His mind and focus totally wandered off course. Margarito fought just to finish and not to win. Of course, Shane did brilliantly against out-of-focus Margarito. Against a focus Berto, I won’t give Shane the chance for an upset, I’ll shoot for a KO inside 10 for Berto.

I hope Floyd Mayweather Jr will fight the winner of the Mosley/Berto fight.
I really feel for Shane, he waited for a fight against Floyd and Manny, but both fighters negotiated to fight each other and then killed the negotiation. Mosley has to move forward and settled for a tough fight versus Berto.
If Floyd will refuse to face Mosley after this fight and will revisit his failed contract against Manny in the fall, Mosley will again wait and wait for the chance to fight either.

In order to redeem himself from drowning, Mayweather needs to fight the winner between Shane Mosley vs. Andre Berto or he can fight Paul Williams but since Gayweather is afraid of losing his “0″ lose record, he would probably cherry pick Malignaggi, M. Hatton, Campbell, (who are smaller guys in Light Welterweight division) or Nonito Donaire (LOL). Money Floyd is running out of options. What a pathetic loser?
