BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR PACMAN AND ANOTHER PACQUIAO BASHING FOR MAYWEATHER

This weekend as Pacquiao continued to concentrate and train for his fight against Clottey, he took extra time to greet and sign autograph for his fans. On the other hand Mayweather continued his quest to bash and tarnish Pacquiao’s legacy.

In my last article, Can Mosley Afford Not To Agree On An Olympic Style Testing, I talked about how Mayweather and his camp were constantly using Pacquiao’s name to promote their fight and keep the former relevant. Some may have disagreed, but once again Mayweather proved me right.

In a recent interview with radio-planet.tv Mayweather said, “In a fighter’s career, a fighter starts off good and he’s good until the end of his career or a fighter starts off good and then goes downhill towards the end of his career. A fighter doesn’t start like Manny Pacquiao, just ordinary, and then once he gets over 25, he becomes an extraordinary fighter. It doesn’t work like that in this sport of boxing,”

It seems Mayweather is in awe of Pacquiao’s recent accomplishments, and doubts his own ability to match it.

Does his statements even hold true? Let’s analyze one of his statements, “A fighter doesn’t start like Manny Pacquiao, just ordinary, and then once he gets over 25 (years old) he becomes an extraordinary fighter. It doesn’t work like that in this sport of boxing,”

First off, where did he get the notion that Pacquiao was only an ordinary fighter in the beginning? He may have been unknown at the beginning of his career to the American audience, but he was an accomplished boxer in the lower weight classes and fought many of the best fighters in his division. Pacquiao had been an OPBF flyweight champion, WBC flyweight champion, WBC International super bantamweight champion even before winning the IBF super bantamweight title from Ledwaba.

Second, there are a number of great boxers that did not have a great start, but achieved greatness in the latter part of their careers. Even Marvin Hagler had a couple of losses and draws in the first part of his career and he turned out to be one of the best middleweights of all time. Another great fighter, Antonio Cervantes, who is considered by many as probably the best junior welterweight in history only had 12 loses in 106 fights, but eight of those came in the first five years of his career.

A prime example today is Bernard Hopkins. A virtual unknown early in his career, he is now regarded as one of the best fighters in history. A common characteristic of all these fighters is their willingness to fight the best at anytime and Pacquiao certainly has exhibited that trait. Like old saying, “If you want to be the best, then you have to fight the best”

Also, there is no specific age that one can say that a fighter’s skill or success should tail off or not be able to be improved upon. We only need to look at Hopkins once again as an example. In fact, Mayweather is arguably a better fighter than when he was 25 years old because of his experience combined with his superior physical abilities. Even in other sports, one can argue that Jordan and Kobe became a much better player in their later years because of experience and their dedication to improve and learn new skills,

Pacquiao has improved immensely and maximized his talent because he’s fought the best. How many times have we seen Pacquiao come to a fight as a huge underdog only to prove everyone wrong? How many times have we seen Floyd come in a fight as an underdog? Maybe the fight against Diego is the only time.

It’s true that Floyd is ultra-talented, and would rarely be an underdog against most fighters, but the fact still remains that there were many great fighters that he never fought during their peak. He never fought Mosley, Margarito, Tszyu, and Cotto when they were at the top of their game even though fans were clamoring for him to face them.

Also Floyd Jr. must realize that many fighters don’t have his pedigree, Unlike Mayweather, Pacquiao didn’t come from a ‘boxing’ family with a wealth of knowledge about the intricacies of the sport. If Pacquiao did, then he would have been a much polished fighter very early in his career. In addition, Pacquiao grew up dirt poor, and did not have an opportunity to polish his skills in the amateurs because he turned pro at only 16 years old in order to help his family.

Mayweather often points out Pacquiao’s number of loses to minimize his ‘greatness’, when in fact he’s lost more, if you take into account the former’s amateur record. Mayweather lost six times as an amateur, while Pacquiao who started his professional career at 16 has only lost three times.

Now let’s analyze another statement of his “In a fighter’s career, a fighter starts off good and he’s good until the end of his career or a fighter starts off good and then goes downhill towards the end of his career…”

If a fighter starts off good and stays good until the end of their career, then he must have been an overachiever or lazy. It’s either a fighter with a great work ethic, but whose limited physical abilities hinder him from achieving a greater level of success or an excellent athlete, whose lack of desire and work ethic impedes him from achieving his potential. If not either of those two above, then it’s either bad luck or they were never given the chance to prove their greatness.

Pacquiao has certainly been blessed in his career by being able to constantly prove himself against the best fighters because of his popularity and being guided by one of the best trainers in the sport.

In addition, great athletes such as Pacquiao do not stay at the same level that they were in the early part of their careers because of their work ethic. One of the main reasons that Pacquiao has achieved his level of greatness is he’s a willing and dedicated student of the ‘Sweet Science”, who continues to hone his skills.

Pacquiao is also at his prime and not at the end of his career, so there is no reason why we shouldn’t expect more greatness from Pacquiao. Mayweather Jr. is older than Pacquiao and the former is still performing at a high level, so he’s even contradicting his statement. The fact is Pacquiao’s skills has always been undermined by his critics and will constantly find excuses for his success because they already formed a preconceived idea of what he can or can’t do.

  1. Cornelius Says:

Yeah, Floyd doubts his own ability because he is suggesting that Manny’s rise is abnormal. I guess everyone who questioned Bonds’ numbers at age 37 were jealous and questioning themselves..and people questioned themselves when they watched a 40 year old Roger Clemens post sub 2.00 ERA’s…since you know… that was abnormal. You may cover boxing, but I doubt you understand it how Mayweather is. Just another case where you are killing the messenger instead of the message. Floyd isn’t the only one that questions Manny… he’s just one of the few who speak openly about it.

  2. 1984 Silver Medalist Says:

All of this talk…When the 2 fighters face each other in the ring is the time we will see and determine just which one is the greatest…Everything else is just talk!

Just sit back rest and wait until they meet!

  3. AsIseeIt Says:

Well, what can you say? The self-proclaimed P4P keeps on bashing and still wants to reclaim the throne from the true P4P king or you may say the “Fighter of the Decade”.

  4. tundraman Says:

I bet Manny being Fighter of the year and decade is killing Mayweather. Mayweather big problem is his mouth moves faster then his brain. Floyd better concentrate on Mosley or he’ll get knocked the f*** out.

  5. John Dumas Says:

Great article, I completely agree. Mayweather would always demean the the success of Pacquiao because he wants to be recognized as the best boxer in the world. But unfortunately for Mayweather people around the world have common sense and knows what kind of envious person he is. More power to you Mr. Oliver Suarez.

  6. Jairafran Says:

Pathetic , Lil floyd is a loser. Come on Mayweather, sign the contract to fight Mosley, do your best to win and maybe you will get another chance to set a fight with Pacquiao. Shut your mouth, we have heard enough of your BLAH BLAH, fight GIRL !!!

  7. smartstreet Says:

Great analysis Oliver. So in essence, Mayweather has more loses from the age of 16 vs pacquiao. may has 6 and pacman has only 3. and to cap that pac was already a pro at 16. such amazing feats indeed by manny.

  8. .r Says:

manny is not fighter of decade maybe the fighter of the year…let’s be honest…hopkins or mayweather or roy jones should get that……

  9. Enlightened Says:

You’re wrong. This is the first thing Mayweather has said since probably December.

Arum and Roach are the one who have been using Mayweather’s name to keep their fight hype. Every other day there’s a story about how “Manny still really wants to beat Floyd bad” and all this nonsense.

    You have it backwards.

  10. flavio cortez Says:

you are correct . i followed pacman’s career fr the start. he was very good before and became great and well known now coz he got the upgraded training from roach and is fighting in america .
the problem w/ floyd is he thinks the boxing world revolves around him and his environment. somewhere out there in this big wide world is the next boxing great .. in devastated haiti , the ghettos of south america or the boondocks of southeast asia !

  11. Joey Kormier Says:

Mayweather is just a very talented idiot … Everything he says is supposed to be true because HE says it ???Because Sr. or Roger says it??? Yeah right …

When you see Floyd on those 24/7’s and read his interviews you realize he is just a spoiled little child … All external and empty inside …

  12. Tommy Says:

winning 6 world titles in 5 weight divisions while staying undefeated is no small feat if you think it is then you know nothing about boxing. you talk about the greats but i bet NONE of them would have refused a simple random blood test (teaspoon of blood) b4 fighting especially when their opponent will be subjected to the exact same thing

  13. NamCap Says:

So true … could not say anything more.
Some are just biased for what ever reason …
and what ever reasoning you say to them does not make any difference.

  14. Pete Fly Says:

Floyd talks about all of the opponents losses but he has only fought one undefeated fighter since Diego. Look at Arturo(R.I.P.), Marquez, Zab, Sharmba Mitchell, Oscar etc.. All you have to do is go to BoxRec.com and put him on blast. He has not fought Trinadad, Mosley, Vernon (R.I.P.), Wink, Hopkins whom all have losses because they fight each other. I think Floyd is great but he contradicts himself over and over and he actually creates an uneven playing field by numbing his hands with xcolydine. He’s just fears the knock out and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mosley fight is called off if Pac wins. Why risk two ass whippings when you can just face one.

  15. Justareader Says:

I like this article, informative (with facts and figures), logical, and makes sense. Analysis is well done! This writer is unlike other writers who are irresponsible, whose ideas are a creation of their hate and bias feelings toward another boxer(s) or persons who do not know the truth and can not separate facts from ill feelings.

Hope boxing fans can see that, with an open mind.

  16. Avatar123 Says:

The lesson is, Mayweather is just a six grader. So why do you take the word of this six grader who always contradict his self? I bet you, it is understandable if Pacquiao has a broken english rather than some American’s who cannot even spell theyre own language.

  17. peejay Says:

he deserves to be the fighter of the decade!! you know why people?? he is the only one who has 7 titles in 7 different divisions.. only pacman.. thats it.. no one can argue about that.. he is the only one.. not mayweather not oscar, not hopkins, not muhammad ali!! only pacman!! end of conversation!!

  18. nutkao Says:

“…a fighter starts off good and then goes downhill towards the end of his career.”

That is the reason why he is fighting Mosley.

  19. zab Says:

Honestly, couldn’t have said it better myself…don’t nobody ever expect Manny to win cause he fights the hardest fights, yet he wins. His work ethic is like no other, and hand speed and volume punches make power!

    Well said Oliver!!

  20. The Roc Says:

Oliver Suarez I swear this is the last time I’ll ever read an article from you. We live in the steroid era and for a guy to turn down 25-40 million to make less than 10 should say a lot. Manny Pacquiao is on steroids. I really hope that writing boxing articles is a hobby for you because if you get paid to do this your editor should be fired for approving the majority of your articles. If Manny Pacquiao was a black guy the media wouldn’t stop until he was blackballed out of boxing just like they did Barry Bonds. This reminds me of Ali back in the day. He didnt get his respect until after he retired. The media hated Ali because he could speak and think for himself. The same is going on with Mayweather. At the end of the day I have to beleive my eyes. Floyd Mayweather is a boxing legend. Manny Pacquiao is the equivalent of Mark McGwire. Everybody knows in the back of their mind that he’s juicing but they’re gonna let it slide because its entertaining. This is one of the main reasons why boxing is dying.

  21. mrRomero Says:

Manny fighter of the year is good. Fighter of the decade I don’t think so. Let’s not fall in love with the HYPE, he still faught guys who were physically drained and at catchwight. No matter what crap is said about either fighter you have to ask yourself,,”What are the facts”? And the fact is…..Pacquiao pulled out of a 40 million plus fight to avoid random drug tests. Period.

  22. bleaks Says:

A really good article! Very well thought out. I don’t expect the mayweather fans to understand this because they cannot even read and comprehend what they read. Their minds are so simple that you’ll need to draw pictures for them to understand.

  23. Qdigga Says:

I even question fighter of the year since Manny refuses random testing. How can anybody overlook that? Mr Romero is right, when you look at the facts Manny has beaten a bunch of guys who’s hype didnt match their current achievements. Big names coming off of big losses. How can you call a man fighter of the year when he out and out avoided a 3rd warranted fight specially since many thinks he loss the 2nd one.

  24. Joker Says:

Mayweather is jealous about the greatness of Pacquiao. Pacquiao shows his greatness in the ring that’s why he became famous, no question on that, his speed and ability to fight toe to toe is huge entertainment to the viewers and they all agree about his accomplishment, he became more popular when he knocked out Hatton in 2nd round then Cotto. Losers seeking some excuses about his achievement and I don’t see any point of view that Pacquiao cheated his greatness, he is just pure clean fighter. Pacquiao always shows excitement in the ring and people love it. Same thing with Michael Jordan, Tiger and Kobe, people love to watch because of their talent, showmanship and ability. Does Mayweather have that kind of ability? I guess, he does if he ZIPPPP his mouth and stay humble… He’s just destroying his reputation for his critics against Pacquiao

  25. SIG357 Says:

It seems Mayweather is in awe of Pacquiao’s recent accomplishments, and doubts his own ability to match it.

This analysis is indeed very precise to the point. But Floyd of course would never admit that he is NOT at all capable of matching Pacquiao and would rather not fight him at all. In fact, when he came back from retirement, he assumed incorrectly that Pacquiao would lose to a real welterweight as Cotto. That would propel him back to P4P No. 1 status. But the reverse happens. For so many years, boxing fans like me had been wanting to see him fighting real welterweights but none of them happened. He is right when he said that after 25, a fighter starts going downhill. That was the exact reason he fought De La Hoya because DLH was already taking bad loses those days. Which clearly means he (DLH) has been going downhill strait. BUt Floyd bluntly refused a 2nd fight against DLH who supposedly won that fight. In reality, to this time, Floyd would never fight anyone of Pacquiao and Mosley’s caliber as he knows he will definitely lose. BTW, did he already signed to contract against Mosley? If not, he should stop whining and moaning and sign the contract. You should tell him that there are a bunch of good welterweight willing to be his dance partners such Pacquiao, Mosley, Margarito, Cotto, Clottey and of course Paul Williams.

  26. Lianne Says:

Anyone who became famous in sports are humble, I saw that with Jordan, Kobe, Tiger and also Pacquiao. They train hard to become more popular and show that in action. Mayweather just keeps on talking non-sense words which will destroy his own reputation, He can just do his best and show that in the ring that he is better fighter or pound for pound king. I never hear anything from Pacquiao against any opponent, he is showing that in action inside the ring, that’s why people love him.

  27. mrRomero Says:

Since this article seem to favor Pacquiao it’s understandable for the author to undermind Floyd’s accomplisments while applauding Pacquiao’s. Of course, articles that favor Floyd are just as guilty. I’ve followe boxing for over 30 years. Bob Arum had no intention to place his fighter agaisnt the more skilled Floyd. Mayweather is the better skilled boxer, hands down. Bob Arum knows this.

  28. SIG357 Says:

    Manny Pacquiao’s Steroid:

    Strength of mind
    Tactical brilliance
    Endurance
    Respectful
    Instinct (great character)
    Obedient
    Determination

and Oh, dont forget the usual Filipino steroid he grew up with such as Balut, Penoy, Kangkong, Sisig, dinuguan, bagoong, etc, etc.

  29. MoneyPack Says:

Good read O.S. I couldn’t agree more. We all know Mayweather is all talk, balk and duck.
Has Fraud signed the contract yet? I bet he won’t ‘coz he knows Mosley is going to whoop his bitch black ass.

  30. SIG357 Says:

Ooops, i forgot the spelling, sorry guys, it should O first before the I.

  31. CARLO Says:

Manny being voted fighter of the decade MUST be killing floyds insides.

  32. Supernova Hype Job Says:

Between the Examiner.com and jack asses like Suarez its pretty obvious fan idoltry rules over good ole fashioned journalism. Let me guess,Oliver Suarez is Filipino!

  33. junks Says:

I don’t see how some people state that Manny walked away from 40 million.

    1. Manny doesn’t box just for money

    2. He doesn’t respect disrespect

    3. He doesn’t think he’s above the Nevada Commission and the sport of boxing

Floyd needs to understand this if he wants to collect that paycheck with him.

  34. niceboy Says:

    MrRomero,

I agree with your statement that Mayweather is the better skilled boxer. However if he is fighting fighters who are already physically diasadvantaged and obviously inferior then how do we measure the PFB skills you mentioned. It’s like a skilled orthodentist but only extract teeth so it’s very difficult to see how good he really is.

  35. rob Says:

yea he dsont box for money yet he always wants the bigger share andif he dosnt get it he walks but he does not fight for money right…im sure…n i bet its eating him up that floyd proly goign to bring in about 30mil for his fight still..because they saying mosley will be getting clsoe to 20mil after ppv sells if it does well so you know floyd getting a bigger cut so more money his way so its funny that he will make more money the pac in his next fight and fight a better fighter and get more props for beating him and they are pushing for blood test from the commmission so he might not even have to argue for that anymore…and the reason why i say they will make blood test not jsut for floyd but golden boy fighters wil not fight top rank fighters unless theresa blood test so that will make alot of greeat fights not happen aand lose alot of money and when the boxing world starts losing money thats when they will jump in lol…

  36. Maze™ Says:

    Great article…

mrRoero: I know you’re one of Floyd’s bitch so get outa here !

  37. SIG357 Says:

    Niceboy, let me second that.

MrRomero, You are right indeed that Floyd is a very skilled fighter as I was saying that before myself. But, if you had followed all this mess, everytime that Floyd says or insinuate something, its always that he is the better boxer, whup his a$$, and Pacquiao has no chance at all, etc, etc. Now, i dont know about you if I deem that someone is not capable of beating me whatsoever, that guy can use steroid and i’ll still fight him then humiliate his a$$ so bad. Cassius Clay proves he can be a villain but also a better boxer. If Floyd would want to emulate Cassius Clay then he should prove it in the ring too just like the former. Greatness cannot be seen by mouth nor record as sometimes its deceiving. Joe Calzaghe retired unfeated in his weight class. How come he did not get voted as Fighter of the Decade by the respectable BWAA. In case you dont know, its the quality of your opponent and how you end up the fight which is the real basis for that. Floyd, never ever fought a real welterweight when he jump to that division. Those days are dominated by Mosley, Margarito, Cotto and Paul Williams. He retired instead. So now, all he can do is moan and groan then says the other guy avoided him by not submitting to him newfound rules. Since when he became a boxing commissioner and now a good samaritan too. Bottomline, he should retire again as I could see he is not capable of beating the top 5 welterweights of today. You see, mrRomero, i am not a boxing analyst nor tactician, but watching boxing and diehard fan since the days of Cassius Clay, i could tell that Floyd is really the one ducking this fight, not Pacquiao. He should really stop talking, move on, sign the contract with Mosley and prove me and everyone else wrong. Unfortunately, even if he signs the contract, I still believe that fight would not even happen at all. As I know his history of ducking and excuses for the last 5 years.

  38. Pete Fly Says:

Floyd doesn’t want to risk loosing! Let’s not forget that he passed up a re-match with Oscar for a whole lot of money. He doesn’t challange himself against true Champions and is so worried about his undefeated record that everybody else has a few looses because they all actually fought one another at a time. I dont buy into his bullshit and would rather see him fight fights!

  39. Pete Fly Says:

Oh, the last undefeated champion Rocky Marciano isnt talked about much so Floyd will go down undefeated if he has his way and have never really fought anybody in their prime since Diego (r.i.p.). He will be as well known as Marciano but known for having better skills in the ring and out of the ring skills of the best boxer who protects his undefeated record with his Hall Of Fame skill of ducking everyone. :)

  40. mrRomero Says:

There is only a small window of opportunity for PPV event fights for any fighter. A fighter would be luckey to get 2 PPV bouts in a year. So you can’t blame Floyd for not fighting every boxer out there, just like you can’t blame Pacquiao for the same thing. Therefore if you blame Floyd for ducking fighters, you might as well bring up boxers that Manny Pacquiao has avoided as well.

  41. mrRomero Says:

You know….This sport is about money. It’s always been about money, just like any other sport out there. When I see Pac fans blowing smoke saying that Pac is not concerned about money, then tell him to fight Clottey for FREE. These comments in defense of Pac are poor excuses and only confirm that it’s not about boxing to Pac follower…it’s just about Pacquiao. It’s great to love a boxer, but lets not be ridiculas.

  42. mrRomero Says:

Pacquiao has not faught Andre Berto, Margarito, Paul Williams, Cintron or Mosley. Yet, Floyd is being accused of ducking. That’s funny.

Pacquia faught a drained Oscar, drained and dmanged goods cotto, Drained Morales, overated Hattan and now has a fight with the human punching bag Joshua Cottey who probably throws 3o punches a round. Yet, Floyd is a cherry picker…That’s even funnier.

  43. Kdd Says:

I love boxing. I even liked mike tyson in the earlier days. But for some reason i cant adapt to floyd. Even if he is american. With mike you know the guy was crazy. With floyd , he is just sniveling lil weasel..who likes to contradict himself over and over again. The funny thing is some ppl believes what he says. The guy is a ducker..its a fact..no matter what others say …The guy will say it to your face…”legacy don’t pay bills” and still ppl will try to defend and find other ways to interepet his meaning.

Floyd: after ricky hatton fight and post cotto fight. They asked him who does he want to fight. They didnt ask what his promoter thinks or etc..DO you want to fight floyd mayweather…Im my own boss..i do whatever I want. So do you want to fight floyd mayweather? If you want it you can get it. All you have to say it.

Max Kellerman: Floyd, we have another fighter here tonight, shane mosely. WHats the possibility that you and shane fighting in the near future.

Floyd: Umm…umm…umm..umm..Shane is a great fighter. I take nothing a way from shane…ummm…umm…ummm…AL haymon and leneord ellerbe conducts my bouts. You gonna have to talk to them. And they will decide what is the best for my career..ummm..ummm..

this guy is a contradicting weasel. I think every boxing fan liked or had interest in floyd one point another but our patience wore out. He is who he is.. He reminds me of a globetrotter. Globetrotters shows of their skills and its fun to watch. But if they yap their mouth that they can beat the early nineties bulls team..i would not take their comments seriously. They can look good against scrubs but please…Floyd is the same.He never plays against the best competition and all that talk of how great he is..well…it just talk ..cant take it seriously.

  44. Pete Fly Says:

Floyd hasn’t fought any 1 of those guys that you mentioned now THAT’S FUNNY! Come on man call a spade a spade. I’m not saying that you need to be on Pac nuts but the truth is Floyd hasn’t done much. I would love to see Floyd fight the best and if he lost I wouldn’t care because he has great ability. I dont care about his undefeated record and pesonally if I had a fighter I would want him to know what loosing is all about at the right time of course so he understands that he can be beat. So many fighters think they cant be beat so having a good loss or a few is not bad. It jsut depends on when it happens. Boxing is a business but lets get real… I dont give a shit about U.F.C. however, a lot of fighters have losses and people still pay to see them who ever they match them with. Floyd is turning me off to his boxing game. He talks about Mosley’s losses but what about Oscar and Marquez. Come on man. He hasn’t fought but 1 undefeated fighter since Diego (r.i.p.)so im not hearing the whole record thing, P.E.D. thing money thing etc…. I just want to see him fight and kick some ass!

  45. SIG357 Says:

Yes and its unfortunate no one fights for glory nowadays. Its all about the great mullah, dollars, $$$ or whatever anyone else calls it. Thats also the same reason there never was Pacquiao/MOsley because as great as Mosley is till now, he is still a VERY HIGH RISK/MINIMAL REWARD fighter. Even Roach could attest to that. But, contrary to what you just said, I do not blame Floyd for not fighting all great boxers available in the WW division. But if he had at least fought one or two who is legit treat to his throne, he would still be my idol till now. And NO ONE, for the record, NO ONE will ever question his claim that he’s the best fighter there is. But he did not, thats it, HE DID NOT even fought one strong welterweight in his last 5 years. Is it because most of those WW are high risk/low reward fighter such as Paul Williams? It may be true, but if he did fought one or two of them, he will never be called a ducker and guaranteed he will be considered an ATG.

  46. Pete Fly Says:

Oh, I believe that if Mosley was available before Clottey that Pac would have gone for him. I would rather see that fight before Mayweather anyways. Boxing is boxing so it is what it is. Mayweather had little choice in this matter and I dont think they will fight after the Pac fight is over. Someone is pulling out and I think it will be Floyd because like you said it is a business and Floyd would smart to face one hard fight instead of two. That’s his M.O.!

  47. mrRomero Says:

The Sugar Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather fight is going to shit all over the Pacquiao v.s. Clottey fight, big time. Mayweather did everything possible to salvage the fight between himself and Pacqroid. Mayweather should be awarded for doing everthing in his power to make this fight happen. Pacquiao should be banned for not taking Olympic style random testing. I hope random style testing becomes a part of boxing from now on. Not The NSAC.

  48. SIG357 Says:

    Sugar Ray Robinson
    birth name Walker Smith Jr.

    Won 173 (KO 108) + lost 19 (KO 1) + drawn 6 = 200

World greatest boxer of all time:

With a loss record of 19 including 1 KO. Amazing isnt it, mrRomero. Tell me, how did he became the GOAT if he had loss 19 times. Tell you, HE (SUGAR RAY ROBINSON) fought every single one who challenged him and every great fighter during his time. No excuses, low money reward, no ducking, and no dancing either. Damn, I still have his poster till now, in my grandson’s bedroom.
In Manny Pacquiao, he may not be able to fight all of them, but some of them will get there in the ring with him especially Marggarito. Why Margarito? Because he’s Mexican.

Unless he becomes a COngressman and retires. Yeah, he should really set politics aside, he’s not meant for it. Sorry to say, those crooked politician in the Philippines were just using him and his money for their campaign. Unfortunately.

  49. Kdd Says:

yea..and pacquiao should demanded of floyd to not use xylocaine..for his fight and say..I did everything to make this fight happen but floyd didnt want to fight..

  50. Pete Fly Says:

Not going to happen. Floyd doesn’t dictate the rules and he needs to stop using xylocaine. Where do you guys live? I live here in Vegas and welcome any true fan to meet with me on fight night(s). Pac’s fight will generate more money. You have to be an idiot to believe other wise. Like I said it probably wont happen. Pac is not on juice and for you to believe it justifies why Floyd is scared to face a guy who has the raw talent to strecth him. If you were Filipino you would know that building muscle is a part of their genetic make up just like any Pacific Islander. My boy is just one bad man & he happens to be Filipino and not black.

  51. SIG357 Says:

Pacquiao/Mosley and/or Pacquiao/Mayweather is the real must see fight. Nothing else. Of course i would say Mayweather/Mosley would be a very good one too except if its really materialize.
I definitely agreed with you Pete Fly, if Mosley was available before Clottey, it could have been Mosley.

To mrRomero: on what you had just said, it clearly states you do not understands the facts behind the Pacquiao/Floyd failed engagement.

  52. Pete Fly Says:

Pac lost his 1st fight to Morales due to the NSAC losing Pacs blood results which forced him to draw blood 2 days before the fight. You have to be a complete f#ck!ng idiot to believe that GBP and Floyd were not aware of that. They know he is not on the sauce BUT they do know that there is an unfair advantage for Pac to agree to the B.S.! Let’s not be stupid…an edge is an edge and I know in my heart that someone would have been paid some under the table money by GBP to administer a “Random Blood Test”at the last allowable time. Im not buying the whole steroid thing and neither should anyone else. They wanted an unfair advantage because Oscar got his ass kicked along with any and every GBP fighter and Floyd wanted an edge and lost out on a big ass payday. Floyd getting his ass kicked is worth a lot more to him that $40+ million. Remember Floyd did not opt for a rematch with Oscar for some serious coin so you tell me what’s going on. I’m not on Pac’s nuts as much as I am any great fighter like Shane or any other great fighter. I just think people need to call a spade a spade and get off of the nuts.

  53. SIG357 Says:

Kdd, I love boxing too myself and my first real boxing hero was Sonny Liston. Remember him? He’s great. Then from one boxer to another up to Floyd then now Pacquiao. When i saw DLH in the Olympics, i said to myself, damn this boy has a great future in boxing. Boy, was i wrong? He did not become the PPV King or Golben Boy for nothing. Look what he is now, a golden hypocrite. I said the same thing to Floyd 15 years ago. Unfortunately, during those days, i was wondering how far Pacquiao can go. And oh boy, he went far, as far as one more weight belt and no one in boxing will ever duplicate his record for some very long years to come.

At this point, i would really want to see Floyd stand up, to the point that he will say “I’ll let Mosley go and wait for Manny Pacquiao” and then challenge Pacquiao without any unnecessary demands and show the world hway he call himself “the best fighter there is”, and why he was one of my favorite boxers before. Heh Heh, now its Pacquiao.

You see, I always give due respect to one who earned it and accomplished to be on the top of him game by fair rules. Not mouth rules.
I always believe in the saying “give unto Caesar what unto Caesar and give unto God whats unto God. For Floyd to regain my respect that i had given him when he was a young, hungry for glory fighter, this is the time to do it. Because this time, the competition is greater than what it was 5 years ago. With a lot of money too.

  54. SourPuss Says:

Ok, so let’s break this down, shall we?
Basically Floyd is a scared little monkey, who refused to take a bite of the 40 million dollar banana, and is now being offered a 20 million banana and wont bite that one either.
See Floyd is the type of monkey who likes his 5-10 million dollar bananas because they’re easier to get. He can get a 10 million dollar banana out of Paulie Malignaggi or Nate Campbell, that sounds more doable to Kentucky Floyd.
So what he should do is either fight Shane and get your 20 million dollar banana, or he can just shove it up his ass, either way, both painful.
At the end of the day, Monkey May will get a banana, he has to, because he’s a dumb, stupid monkey.
    Nuff said?

  55. mrRomero Says:

SIG357. I really don’t like to mention yesterday’s legends. Or compare them to Manny Pacquiao. Especially Henry Armstrong. For one… great champions of the past did not DEMAND their opponents to drain themselves to catch weight fights. And, if any of these fighters were asked to take random tests they would have had no problem taking them. Pacquiao had the chance to call out Mosley and he didn’t, that’s because Bob Arum has a safer fight for him to do.

  56. mrRomero Says:

pete fly. I know about Pac having to redo a blood test during the Morales first fight. Two days before. He din’t lose because he was weak, he lost because he lost. Pacquia has more excuses than a philipeno on HGH. As far as floyd using that to his advantage. I don’t think so. Floyd was willing to give Pac a 14 day cut off for the random testing. No more excuses dude.

  57. SIG357 Says:

Pete, the 1st Morales/Pacquiao fight was sold by his Manager Murad Muhhamad to DLH. Why? Because Muhammad knows that Pacquiao was already planning and in fact talking to his incoming new Manager as he already found out that Muhammad was screwing him left and right with his money. So he (Muhammad) sold him to DLH who during that would not want to see a Filipino beating the so called great Mexican boxers. Then when DLH tried to buy Pacquiao off from Top Rank, Pacquiao found out DLH’s real intention which was to destroy his career and nothing else. When Pacquiao went back to Top Rank, lawsuit and profit sharing and everything, DLH swear that he will someday humiliate Pacquiao. Thus, the Dream Match was in fact DLH’s project and his intention is just one thing, destroy Pacquiao for a few reason such:
    1. Pacquiao beat all the available Mexican great in 3 divisions. Dont forget, DLH is a Mexican himself.
    2. When he signed to GBP then went back to Top Rank
    3. One last time in the ring before retirement solely to humiliate pacquiao, AND backfired big time.

I believe a lot of people knows that when Pacquiao was still in the 135 #s, most of those who wanted to fight him so bad are Mexicans, its for revenge, same reason why DLH wanted to fight Pacquiao for his last bout in the ring.

  58. Pete Fly Says:

Mr. Romeo…I beleive that the Clottey fight was signed sealed and delivered before Berto withdrew. Jan 10th I believe and Berto w/drew the 19th. Clottey is not safer by any means. I hope you dont look as dumb as you sound. ;) Also, no one is asking anyone to drain themselves before a fight! Dont you think its just as hard not to drain weight and perform at the highest level. Everybody dehydrates before weigh-in and has a nurse hydrate them after. Im tired of the excuses. Pac is clean and if it was an on-going problem than no one fighter would have agreed to the weight limit(s) and neither would Floyd. Save the bullshit for someone else.

  59. Pete Fly Says:

Mr. Romeo…there is no way in hell that I wouldn’t have done anything to get an advantage on Pac. The fact is he lost to Morales 1 and did take a blood test 2 days before the fight. He lost YES BUT you have to be smart like Floyd or anyone else and take into consideration that there was something different with that loss rather relavant or not and it was a blood test. Every POSSIBLE advantage must be gained you know it and I know it. Floyd’s shit backfired and know he has to face Mosley. I like Floyd but he needs to get busy. He hasn’t done shit.

  60. mrRomero Says:

Floyd was not going to dehydrate himself because he knew it would affect him. Deyhydrating makes you weak and it does have an effect on you. Unless your a heavyweight. Fighter don’t usually agree to fight at catch weights but they will for the money and a chance for a championship belt later on in their ending career, like Clottey. Clottey has faught 3 known top champions in the past 5 years and lost to all three champions. Yes, he is a damn good test for anyone out there, but that’s it. This will be an easy win for Pacquiao. And lets not forget the HGH issue. Oh, I’m not insinuating of course. Just my opinion.

  61. mrRomero Says:

OK Pete Fly…ALL HONESTY. I hate Floyd. I’ve been wanting someone to knock his block off. I was really hoping for Marques to at least make him look bad. But that didn’t happen. My last chance was Pacquiao. That fight was going to be on my Birtday March 13. I still believe Pac will lose. But if he could at least make Floyd work or look bad it would have made me happy. There’s no excuse…I just think Floyd has less to blame than Pacquiao. HGH or No HGH.

  62. SIG357 Says:

    mrRomero

Good, now you’re talking. But tell me, how could tell tomorrow’s greats without looking at yesterdays.

Drained weight? What made you say so. DLH was drained! Where did you get that. It was DLH who challenged Pacquiao to a fight and to meet him halfway. DO you know that? DLH went down 2 weight division and Pacquiao went up 2 weight division. So whats the weight drain. It was DLH who wanted the fight so bad so he can retire saying “see, Pacquiao aint that great after all”, and so as to humiliate Pacquiao, whom in return humiliated himself in a mere 8 rounds.

Random Blood test: In 40 fights, i never heard Floyd ask anyone of them to take a random blood test unless he is really scared of Pacquiao and I believe he is. I really do.

Cotto: Was he weight drained? No, in fact, he said “i’m on my best shape right now”.

Mosley: You are absolutely right, Pacquiao has the chance to call him but Arum says NOT SO. Do you know why? You said it yourself, this sport is all business. As i have said before, Mosley is a “VERY HIGH RISK/MINIMAL REWARD” fighter, and that how Arum saw it.

One thing i could directly tell you mrRomero, Pacquiao is a NOT a steroid user, because if he is, he should fighting in the Middleweight Division by now. Have you seen his weight growth? Very minimal with an average of 4#s per division. Floyd however gained weight more faster that Pacquiao did. I hope you know that. So who’s on steroid then? Dont forget, Floyd already fought at 154, Manny was just starting at 147.

  63. Pete Fly Says:

What does HGH do for you??? Just makes you look great. It does not give you extra strength unless you stack it with sauce and it takes a long time for HGH to kick in. I’ve been told that you dont see results until after 3 kits and each kit takes…. well here you go…As for the duration of a cycle of HGH, it is believed by many that the compound must be administered for a minimum of 20 to 30 weeks to see results. The action of the compound is slow acting and therefore lengthy cycles are needed. So Mr. Romeo I dont believe its HGH. Who knows maybe Floyd is on some shit…At the end of the day they both will be judged on their careers for who they fought and who they did not fight. I dont care one way or another. I just call it like I see it. For example: I liked Naz Hamed BUT knew he would lose to a Floyd, Barrera or Morales because of what my boy Kev Kelley exposed him to. Although I loved Naz I knew he would lose. It is what it is. I love Iron Mike & even though Mils Lane did a SHITTY job by allowing Evander to hold and hit butt (which was an advantage) I still think Evander would have always given Tyson a hard time. Im just tired of everybody riding nuts and not being real!

  64. SIG357 Says:

Hummnn, Clottey is an easy win for Pacquiao. I’ll take that but I would not at all underestimate that guy. He is the 5th ranking Welterweight in the world out of 1466. Clottey is built like a Sherman tank and defintely has every capability to dethrone Pacquaio although I say unlikely. But this should be a good fight. In fact I wanted to go to Dallas to see the fight.

Anyways, let cut the HGH crap, as I know its not true at all. Pacquiao is clean, thats it.

  65. Doc Holiday Says:

Jus a reminder for those who must’ve forgot and insist on calling Pacman the P4P king…Pac won the P4P title by default!! Im not saying he’s not good and exciting but PBF lost that title only because he retired!!! Real Champs TAKES the belt, title from the Champ not win it by vacantcy! Mayweather didn’t lose a fight so in my mind he is still the P4P best!!

  66. Jay Says:

awesome article those mayweather Fans just gota put aside there jealose and hate for the pacman because in the end theres no need for it really the better man will win if this fight happens and im sure it will be a spectacle…mayweather is definatley an envious person and i guess when he left he was expecting his legacy to overwhelm the boxing world and hopfully be missed but along came pacquiao and he has just fully taken over the division and conquered so much and not just in the ring but out the ring his humuble man status and the good guy act has him loved by millions of fans and mayweathers trash talking bad boy image has alot of fans questioning if he even has the Hart or Bravery to take the pacman on…all i know is this will be hell of a fight

  67. SIG357 Says:

    Boxingscene.com not too long ago

Mayweather has yet to sign, Scheffer getting frustrated.

    hahhahahahaha

  68. Pete Fly Says:

let me put it to you like this… I would rather watch Pac, Shane, Hearns, Duran Frasier, Foreman, Barrera, Morales etc…. anyone of their loses than any fight that Floyd has one. That’s pretty sad. Shit. I would rather watch Mayorga, Quartey, Vargas too..

  69. vhinzky Says:

when pacquaio started as a pro, he doesn’t mind popularity nor greatness in his glory, instead he is fighting to make ends meet because he barely eat 3 times a day..fighting to fed his family is far more interesting than achieving something for nothing..

“pacquiao is never looking for greatness, instead greatness is looking for pacquaio”..

  70. Pete Fly Says:

forgive the spelling im at work :)

  71. juanito Says:

I was wondering how come Mayweather was voted number 2 fighter of the year when he doesn’t really fight. Mayweather is not a fighter… a boxer maybe. And besides, he has only one match last year. This is not fair to other boxers just because his name is “Mayweather”.

  72. McBhriel Says:

Just fight mosley floyd! If you want to become a number 1 P4P king just simply bet mosley and fight pacquiao. If you win this fight you will be my # 1 fighter. No doubts about it! Just keep fighting not just keep on ducking. Do not afraid of any loss. Loss to any fight makes one of the experienced you must be develop.

  73. toto Says:

mr roc, your brain is on roids, like your idol sissy floydie. who’s on ped? you guess it right, gayweathers! cowards

  74. aloha Says:

Manny Pacquiao was named fighter of the decade by the Boxing Writers Assn. of America. This is a slap on Mayweather’s face. Why this group of people voted for Pacquiao if they truly believe Manny is on steroids or PED? It’s too obvious this group people doesn’t even listen to the big mouth Floyd quak quak. lol

  75. ampatuan army Says:

@Mr romero/cornelius. you are all fackup nuthuggers! You don’t even understand the logic of your nonsense, brainless, comments! You are worst that an uneducated fools!you really don’t belong on any decent society.

  76. godzilla Says:

WHy do people listen to floyd chicken anyways everything he says is the complete opposite of what he stated before, it’s like a mind of a retard, it’s non sense!!! so please if its from floyd don’t pay no never mind.

  77. doubletangoromeo Says:

it is human nature blood call them what you want but here in the phils. we have a term for that CRAB MENTALITY…when PBF Jr. was racking up wins, everybody was a fan of him, i mean anybody who follows the sport here in the phils. now that our very own is carving his place in the giants of the sports, suddenly you hear TEDDY ATLAS, THE MAYWEATHERS, TIM SMITH, PEDRO FERNANDEZ, GBP and many others accusing manny of doing drugs w/o an iota of evidence to support their claim, don’t get me wrong m not a crusader here, but doesn’t it says in ur constitution, THAT THE BURDEN OF PROOF SHLD COME FROM THE ACCUSER NOT THE ACCUSED!

  78. ben Says:

Floyd just keep your mouth shut for now…and sign the damn contract as Mosley did. Now prove yourself as worthy of a champion. What most people are forgetting here in the world of boxing, there is still an obligation to the fans, and public that boxing is a gentleman’s sport or any sport of that matter. Every boxer or afficionados at that should maintain good character and promote that the sport is an avenue not only of entertainment but has an obligation to the pub to show morals, ethics, and sportsmanship. A champion should be a model, not a gossip mongers, of bad reputation, humble and decent in ways and manners. If Floyd is really a champ and since but a loud mouth…call and ask manny for a street fighting style without gloves mano a mano. heheh… manny for sure will not say no to him.

  79. brownboy Says:

Floyd is scared. It shows in his ignorant comments. People speak and act ignorantly most often because of fear.
Floyd, do your homework. Pacquiao has been knocking people out for the last 20 years — he was always extraordinary, back in the days when he was throwing over 100 punches per round.
And Floyd, show us proof that the Philippines, my home country, has the best PEDs available. Floyd, you need to shut up and fight, you dumb and ignorant bastard!

  80. Jun Abines Says:

The first 10 fights of Pacman were more exciting and full of action than the last 10 fights of Mayweather.

You can see it for yourself to understand what I mean. Floyd opens his mouth without even watching how great and exciting Pacman was long before he steps in the US.

  81. Lado Says:

Too many people go ranting about MP ’supposedly’ walked away from $40 million +. People do your fcking research, now if Floyd was really ’sincere’ about cleaning up the sport of boxing then he should have NEVER asked a 14 day cutoff. Instead he should have stayed with his new mantra about having a ‘level-playing field’. In short the 14 day cutoff was just a bullying tactic. Like I said if his sincerity was true about cleaning up boxing then he should have always pushed for random testing throughout the entire negotiation. 24, 14, hell even 3 days wouldn’t have mattered it can still be masked. This is a known fact, people again do your fcking research. So this whole 14 days was just a ploy and a way for Floyd to weasel himself out of a fight. On top of that if Floyd’s nickname is “Money” why would he refuse an extra $25 million from JJ on top of the $40 million that he could have made. Too many people blatantly say ‘oh Pacman is on steroids’ without even doing adequate research. Long story short Floyd Mayweather Jr. was the one who walked away from $40 million +. He even said ‘oh Pacquiao is just an ordinary fighter’ well if that’s the case then why the need for Olypic style drug testing if Pacquiao is ‘only’ ordinary and not great like Floyd? Too many contradictions from Floyd and his team. Floyd pick up your sac man the majority of the boxing fans and scribes and see through your BS.

  82. raging bull Says:

I believe in Manny 100% that he doesn’t use steroids at all…hes 100% real, no bull, no fear!!..he just fights, fights good, fast and powerful - that’s what i like about him…I mean hes knocking them out one by one and with ease !!…hes a real fighter.. on the other hand Floyd and the his bandwagon are just full of it…trying to discredit him in all kinds of ways…and Floyd is a real certified coward, a genuine chicken and has a mouth that’s eligible for Mouth of the Decade ! lol !! even chicken of the decade is more appropriate…

  83. doubletangoromeo Says:

shame on you sig357 if you cannot watch the action…we here in the phils. we’ll make do w/those cable stns provided for free by our corrupt politicians who are running this may elctions.

  84. RAHSBOY Says:

All: Floyd sign the contract now!! Shane is waiting!!

  85. ramborge Says:

floyd need to see a psychiatrist, there is something wrong with this guy, mentally and pschologically really..i think he is physically and mentaly unfit for the sport.i suggest..sent this crazy again to retirement.

  86. willy coyote Says:

It seems Mayweather wants another copy of the Mosley contract. He’s hand was trembling when signing the first one. har har har

  87. willy coyote Says:

Floyd is afraid of Mosley! Floyd is afraid of Mosley!

  88. Xylocaine Gayfloyd Says:

Gayfloyd need XYLOCAINE to numb his hands to sign the contract hehehe

  89. juan Says:

Pacman agreed to be blood tested 3x including 1 in his locker room immediately after the fight, if he’s on steroid it will still show. He’s not afraid of needles or blood testing. The mayweather camp discovered pacman’s kryptonite months before they challenged him, that is blood drawn close to the fight just like what happened in pacman’s first bout with morales which he lost. Watch “pacquiao interview by dong puno 2005″ on you tube to know better the issue on blood testing.

Pacman has been knocking down his opponents even before he reached the U.S. Watch teenager pacquiao vs mendones on you tube & see for yourself that pacman has always been fast & powerful inside the ring.

The steroid accusation is baseless as it was started by the mayweather & golden boy camps out of jealousy to pacman’s success & popularity in global boxing.

  90. J Says:

it is time to shut your mouth fraud jr! greatness is build through hard work not by quacking. until now you’re not seeing the difference huh, while you are busy quacking, pacquiao is busy honing his skill. Now you are surprise that a young man from third world country overtakes you? come on sign the contract and fight mosley! The whole boxing world know that you are afraid of him just that you are cornered to fight him.

  91. phillyboy Says:

some guys just doesn’t have the thing called common sense. It’s not about the money guys, Pac has made a lot of that already. he did not turn down $40M, he just stood up for what he, Roach and Arum believes. Gayweather is bullying him by imposing additional rules, he’s creating his escape goat. Where’s gayweather now? has he signed the contract with Mosley which he ducked several years ago? come on floyd fans, get real!!! all of you are just crap as the mayweathers are.

BTW, great article one of the objective ones I’ve read so far.

  92. mediator Says:

Great article with good analysis.Keep up the good work…:-)

  93. nero Says:

Pacquiao is Fighter of the Decade floyd, so you can eat your heart out!!!

  94. Nally Patak Says:

KFC looks at things through his eyes.
He evaluates and measures things through how he did things. His standard is the standard of all things. He’s a thinker says his uncle.
    Lamebrain.
He’s a pebble in a can. The little frog inside a well.

  95. ji-louise Says:

If floyd jr. wants to “clean-up” the sport of boxing, he should have present his concerns on all boxing organizations in the world to conduct such blood test on every boxing event. By this, he will not be accused of being scared to face Manny Pacquiao and making such alibis in order for him not to fight the Filipino champ. “Cleaning up” the sport of boxing does not only concern to the person you want to face with but also to those who are in this sport. If that happens, you will be hailed for what you did to the sport of boxing but not for your own sense of purpose. Manny fights for his people thats why many Filipinos love him. Floyd jr is great fighter, if he wants to be the best fighter which he always say to himself, then he must fight the best fighters in his division.

  96. Johanne Says:

    “Cornelius Says:
    February 2nd, 2010 at 8:02 AM
Yeah, Floyd doubts his own ability because he is suggesting that Manny’s rise is abnormal. I guess everyone who questioned Bonds’ numbers at age 37 were jealous and questioning themselves..and people questioned themselves when they watched a 40 year old Roger Clemens post sub 2.00 ERA’s…since you know… that was abnormal. You may cover boxing, but I doubt you understand it how Mayweather is. Just another case where you are killing the messenger instead of the message. Floyd isn’t the only one that questions Manny… he’s just one of the few who speak openly about it.”

Cornelius, you missed the point. The reason why the messenger is being bashed is because his message has ZERO credibility to it (just like Mayweather’s 0 has no crediblity).

First point - Pacquiao’s accomplishments aren’t abnormal the way Barry Bond’s batting HR average suddenly spiked.

Pacquiao had always been a gifted athlete since he was 16. He was an adolescent fighting full-fledged adult fighters in the professional ring and knocking them out.

Pacquiao was winning and knocking guys out based on raw athletic speed and power. So whatever Pacquiao is doing now (knocking bigger guys out) he’d always been doing even as a malnourished kid.

Now that he can eat right, and now that he has Roach instructing him about the Science of boxing, Pacquiao can now maximize the effectivity of his athletic abilities.

Contrary to Floyd’s argument, Manny’s success isn’t about his improved “speed and power”. Pacquiao always had that even when he was malnourished.

A vastly improved technique is why Manny was able to become number 1 p4p fighter in the world today.

Put it simply, Floyd is nothing more than a bigot who cannot accept that an Asian from a third world country can achieve so much more than he has (based on pure hard work)despite having the advantages of a boxing family.

To satisfy his insecurity, Floyd has to use the “cheating” allegation despite having no proof.

That’s right, all dopers were linked to doctors and drug companies who supplied PEDs. No one can provide a receipt, a witness or any other incriminating evidence that would link Manny to any PED. In fact, Manny can’t even be linked to common drugs like Advil because he doesn’t like taking any form of prescription drugs. And it’s not surprising because the Philippines is a country where “faith healers” still make significant amounts of money. In a culture where faith is more important than Science (especially true in the poorer regions), the concept of PED’s just doesn’t sell.

If you want to give credibility to a sour-graping bigot like Mayweather, that’s your problem.

  97. Boxing Fan Says:

People who still thinks about the blood testing are really STUPID! Really. STUPID. Did Manny PacMan refused blood test? I think he said he will do the test just not close to the fight night. Does the NSAC requires blood test? Eversince the sport of boxing started no boxer ever had to go blood test on their professional careers. Can you name one? Blood testing are for amatures because they don’t fight for a living and only fights once in every olympic games. Get it? every 4 years if im correct. Now, if you think you’re clean and your employer wants to stick needles in your arms anytime they want (ala Mayweather suggestion), would you let them? just so they can prove to themselves that you are clean. Get over this blood test issue. if you’re not over it yet, THEN GO TELL IT TO THE MARINES! I bet they’ll ignore you too.

  101. c0remaster Says:

    TO ROC,
Wrong! Americans live in the steroids era not Filipinos.

  102. kanes Says:

also considered that pacquiao might not perform well in his future fights…

  103. joebentvice Says:

sucks to be a floyd fan right now. anybody among you wants to inject floyd’s hand with xylocaine? maybe he needs it to numb his hand so he can sign the mosley fight. or better yet inject it in his nuts. he needs numbnuts to sign off on that fight. LOL!!!

  104. hbstowe Says:

floyd has all the skills too bad he doesnt have the will.

  105. Wellie Says:

This is what i understand to people who believes FLoyd jr everything he says, due to their inability to think w/ their pea-size brain.. ” The tree is known by its fruit” ” Father like son” so what do you expect the outcome of Jr. knowing Floyd Sr.about his steroid life.

  106. reynante Says:

floyd is really afraid of pacquiao…he’s always saying pac is just ordinary fighter who’s far from his level…then why he’s saying about that far from truth…a gifted body built are so ordinary here in the philippines…and with pac wealth, he can choose the food that would give him the best shape though he’s eating full during his trainings… cowardice is not equal to greatness… if floyd is really the best…he can fight pacquiao any time..without excuses…that’s all…

  107. cimatar Says:

    A SIMPLE POEM

IF YOU ARE A BOXING FAN, AND PACQUIAO AND MAYWEATHER FINALLY MEET,
    HOW MUCH MONEY YOU BET,
IS BETTER THAN THE WORDS THAT’S BEEN SAID

SO HOLD YOUR TONGUE FOR A WHILE
AND HOPE THE FIGHT WILL TRANSPIRE
BE RICHER OR POORER YOU DECIDE
FOR THE FIGHTER YOU CHOOSE IS YOUR GUY ;-)

  108. Burj Says:

Pac vs Floyd will never happen… The truth is Floyd Jr is AFRAID to fight the PacMan… Floyd is the greatest COWARD of all time.

  109. floydfan#0 Says:

mr romero you are a dumb ass how can you consider mayweather the best when he is avoiding to fight the best.

  110. Fraud Gayduckchicken Jr. Says:

Mayweather is still researching the effect of xylocaine if put all over his body deom head to toe so he won’t feel the hit of Mosley. He wants to make sure that he has an even playing field of course.

  111. jdp Says:

    mrromero,
pacquiao only join the welterweight division when he fought oscar.
berto, margarito etal.. are natural welters, they did not start at flyweight..

  112. mike marley Says:

    to thw writer.

    you s u c k .

  113. jdp Says:

    mrRomero,
why blame pacquiao, if the nego fails?
painrelievers are enhancing performance because it allows one to punch and receive a punch w/o being hurt..

  114. Boxing Writers Association of America(BWAA) Says:

Manny Pacquiao is the Fighter of the Year for 2009 and Fighter of the Decade. This is will be awarded this coming June in New York. All Mayweathey fans and family are invited to join because that’s the closest thing you get for your PBF.

  115. wahib Says:

fuck you roc,,,show us the evidence that manny is on roids,,if not then eat your own shit nigger!

  116. Alfred Says:

Floyd is just so desparate and envious. Now, no way for him to win the next “Fighter of the Decade” award as he will not survive 2010 due to his impending defeats at the hands of Mosley and ultimately from the Pacman.

Long live the true P4P King! The Fighter of the Decade - MANNY”PACMAN”PACQUIAO.

  117. allan Says:

great article oliver. well than more power to you!

  118. GEORGE Says:

Yeah, you’re right. Floyd clearly said everything, he’s scared of Manny because he thought Manny is extraordinary right now. He thought his skills is just good to these days and will remain good until the end but Manny’s skill is better than his. Hmmmm, he has reasons, do I need to explain? I don’t think so. It’s obvious.

  119. GEORGE Says:

One more thing, despite the fact that Manny started his pro career too early at age 16, he already fought more than 30 times without losing a bout before he steeped in professional career. That already tells you how good he really is even before. And you know what, most of his opponent said after fighting this guy, they said that for the first time in their life they pissed blood after the fight with Manny. His very accurate and very powerful left was his ultimate weapon and that alone was enough on that level. Now he has everything.

  120. ngern Says:

The Old Mongoose, Archie Moore did not win the heavyweight belt until he was 38 years old!!! He started his professional boxing career at almost the same time as Joe Louis! Li’l Floyd is so full of BS; I’m just so surprised that a lot of people even listen to him! Is this but another proof that there are a lot of idiots in America?

  121. Pete Fly Says:

I dont understand why anyone would really be interested in Floyd? Is it bacause Mosley and Pac would actually make him fight. Lets get real he is a great defensive boxer but not exciting unless you push it. Hatons fight was good but the fight with an old Oscar was not the most impressive ass whipping that Floyd said he would give. He won a split decision and refused a re-match and retired giving Pac #4# fighter rights. Pac earned it, Floyd gave it up and he hasn’t earned it back. Floyd is boring! Klitchko landed more punches in 10 rounds than Floyd threw against a smaller Marquez in 12. I think we can all agree that Floyd fights when he has to and that he is not like the greats like Leonard, Ali, Jones etc all with whom had excellent skills but gave the fans there moneys worth by always closing the show in each and every match. Floyd does not do that!

  122. ngern Says:

As a startup boxer in the Philippines, Pacman showed a lot of promise in the ring. Veteran commentator and boxing analist Ronnie Nathanielz, a respected name in the sport, was one of those people who predicted that if all goes well for this young boxer named Manny Pacquiao, he could be a world champion! Pacman was never the “ordinary” boxer Floyd thinks of him to be!

  123. ngern Says:

What’s this? A fighter starts good and as the years go by near the end of their careers, they start declining? This sounds more like crap to me!! Literally! Crap slides downward!A great boxer peaks; that means he gets better and better, then reaches the highlights of his career, Then as he gets older, he starts losing his speed and power. Pacman is at the highest point of his career right now. Floyd is “over the hill” so to speak. Floyd is just full of crap, I just don’t listen to anything he says coz it’s all idiotic!

  124. FLOYNALD DUCK Says:

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH
WHY DID MANNY HAVE TO LEAVE ME ALONE FIGHTING MOSLEY. I COULD HAVE A BETTER PAY THAN FIGHTING THAT GOOD OLD MOSLEY.

SHOULD HAVE 40 MILLION BY NOW

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    DIDN’T SEE IT COMING.

    THAT SMART ASS

    HE OUTWIT ME….

    IM SO STUPID

MY FANS THOUGHT THAT MAIN MAN MANNY IS LETTING 40 MILLION SLIP WHEN IN FACT IT SLIPPED AWAY FROM ME…

    IM SO STUPID

NOW MY BALLS ARE SHAKING TO SURVIVE THE MOSLEY FIGHT WITH LESS PAY..

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    IM SO STUPID!!!!!!

  125. ninja Says:

    AGREE!!

all of you floyd fans always put the blood testing as a defense! and soooo many times, your accusations is nonesense! all of you are moron! dumbfucks!

did it hurt your ego! cmon sign the contract with mosley to prove that he is the best! winning 6 world champ in 5 division is nothing if you are fighting paper champs! enumerate elite world champs that floyd fought! NONE!!! the only elite i think, that floyd fought is diego corrales… castillo is a good fighter but not an elite! ricky hatton is elite at 140 but not 147! oscar was an elite but when he is on 20’s and early 30’s!

pacquiao is light years away now to floyd! pac is the fighter of the decade! #2 all time! i know you will say that awards means nothing! question, if floyd is the one who received hat award, will you say that award means nothing?? HELL NO!!! because you’re a fraud ass kisser! im just saying what is true!

  126. MAtt Says:

What Floyd says are mostly irrational self-contradicting and lack of judgement if not explicitly nonsense! The irony is, many of his stupid fans believe what he says is gospel truth!

  127. sympathy4apathy Says:

Pretty KFC-PBF is the epitome of boxing moron.Being coward he keeps lodging negative statements against Pacman.
He think he is wiser and credible than NSAC… He does not only mock the integrity of the official commission but also trying to impose himself as a boxing authority.
Such a slave descendant with no respect to the world who took him out african bushes.
    What an INGRATE…

  128. MAtt Says:

Can Floyd just sell his fight at their own merits without mentioning Pacquiao? He will gain nothing crying over spilled Pacman’s milk! He’s just proving how dumb he could be.

  129. Ariel Costa Says:

i don’t usually read such long article like this one..but hey oliver, you did a good job…you are absolutely right..keep it up

  130. rasheed514 Says:

    @TOMMY…

same old story, why don’t convince your man to sign the contract against mosley? S2PID… MORE ON! LOL

  131. HBO Says:

AGREED. Nothing more nothing less PERIOD.

  132. mrRomero Says:

I don’t like the fact that Pacquiao pulled out of the Floyd fight. Even more so, I don’t like the fact that Mayweather has not yet signed the dotted line for the shane mosley fight. My advice to Floyd,,,sign the dotted line or retire. My advice to Pac…stop acting like a little girl and drop the lawsuit and stay at 147 after the Clottey fight. If Pac does not fight the winner of Floyd v.s Mosley (if that fight happens)(Random test or no random test…Then he is just as guilty of cherry picking and coward as Floyd Mayweather.

  133. mrRomero Says:

Ninja? You say Floyd has not faught an elite fighter…Who the hell is elite that Pacquiao faught? NONE…I thought he lost the 2nd fight with Marquez, Pac has 3 losses and twice he was knock the “fu” out…Hatton was overrated, De layhoya was a part time boxer who had not faught at 147 in years and everyone else was either damaged goods or on their way out. Clottey is probably the best challenge yet for Pac but who has clottey beat?

  134. mrRomero Says:

I remember A guy buy the name of Naseem Hammed. Somebody wrote a book about him called the “Nazeem Hammed Storey”. Undefeated and knocking out almost 90% of his opponents. People bought into the hype just like they bought into Pacquiao hype, it’s not surprising..That’s what experience promoters do. (Look at Tito Trinidad). If your going to discredit a boxer like Floyd you might as well discredit all of them.

  135. gijoe855 Says:

Give kudos to Freddy Roach also. He is the one who molded Pacquiao. Nice article though!

  136. zenmaster Says:

    @mrRomero

your a flomo.. hahah floyde nuthugger!

  137. myk.. Says:

@roc..ey dude forget about pacquiao..here’s mosely a proven juicer but more than willing take any test..all he (mosley) needs is an authograph from your idol (floyd) can you beg him to do it just for your (fans) sakes?..can you make him out from hiding and sign the contract pls?..or he needs a doze of xylocaine to do it!

  138. El terrible Says:

Amen! kudos for this article.well said, game over floyd!

  139. Andy Says:

Great article! Makes a lot of sense.

  140. phillyboy Says:

mr.romero… you’re on of those guys who started to watch boxing last week and feels like an expert now. Such a stupid person!!! what do you think about Barrera, Morales, Lebwada, Marquez (you thought that Morales won? that’s perception and it doesn’t count), Diaz, Hatton (being undefeated at 140), dela hoya (remember he called for Pacman to fight him but he got humiliated along the way) and Cotto. These guys for you are worn out fighters. Come on man, get real, grow up!!!

  141. myk.. Says:

@ mr. romero..are you watching boxing dude???can you tell me how many years your idol floyd been there as a weltereight and above?..I only watch good fight but if you ask about pacquiao as a welterweight..hmm..i think hatton is a light welterweight..so..if my memory serves me right, Pacquiao just stepped-up as true welterweight last nov. 2009, dismantled cotto and called your idol floyd..what date is now? feb. 2010 right? i’m not good in math but i gz it’s just 3mos. right? how many years floyd as a welterweight and up again?

and dude..maybe you could arrange pacquiao to fight williams on monday, margarito on tuesday berto on wednesday, malignagi on thursday, cintron on friday and mosley on saturday but you know that pacquiao is a God-fearing person, so pls. give him rest on Sunday..However if your idol floyd will be able to find his balls..perhaps pacquiao would still accomodate him on that day.

    How about that boxing genius?

  142. Edfel Says:

I agree with this article in every point, I ‘m wondering why in spite the fact that Mayweather DID NOT tangle or fight with the best fighter in the division he is still in the top 10 best fighter. I don’t see the basis for this. Even how good he is or talented he is but if he didn’t show it why should he be in top 10? Can you please enlighten me in this particular scenario

  143. trex Says:

    mr. Romero,

you’re the best example of “little knowledge is dangerous”. You compare naseem hamed to manny pacquiao as just being “hyped”. naseem fought an elite in barrera and after that call it quits! Manny pacquiao, lost to morales, called it “a bad experience, learn your lessons” and went on to reap honors. So, what is just “hype” with the pacman? “little knowledge is dangerous” don’t you forget that!

  144. leftcross Says:

    @ROC

God bless you for your belief that Pac is on steroids just because he apparently refused the 40M chance of earning. How tiny your brains are boy. Do you really think that EVERYONE is all motivated about money, more money, and more more money? Sick analysis that is. Just because you are entitled with an opinion makes you firm believer over anything. STUDY THE FACTS if there is any before you accuse. If facts are not there (maybe ask the Mayweathers if they have), analyze the circumstances. Why not ask experts who could tell you if PED’s can make a great fighter or just bulk only that muscles more. Does it guarantee ring intelligence? Little knowledge is dangerous. IT MAKES YOU DUMB.

  145. boxmeister Says:

Mr. Romero is Floyd himself…get it?

  146. LIAM Says:

MAYWEATHERS EXISTENCE IN THIS PLANET IS A GRAVE OFFENSE TO THE ENTIRE HUMANITY!

Floyd creating his own rules and imposing it on Pacquiao is akin to America accusing Iraq of harbouring WMDs(Weapons of Mass Destruction), ignoring the UN body to conduct its own inspections, and using unfounded allegations to attack Iraq killing women and children.

  147. Mahzar Says:

    @Roc

youre an effing moron for believing manny is juicing. only idiots patronize their own kind of thinking like Kenducky Fraud Gaychickenweather!

  148. MisterLee of TSS Says:

MrRomero, you’re an idiot. Pacquiao has only fought ONE fight at a catch weight, the EXACT same number of fights Mayweather has fought, ONE catchweight, 145 agst Cotto, and 144 agst Marquez (where he missed the catchweight). You tell me who’s a greater threat at welterweight, 145 cotto or 144 marquez. May “The Catchweight Prince” better step up his competition. Holler!

  149. taeintsik Says:

Huhum. What can you expect from a liar like Floyd the chickenshit???

  150. monkeyU Says:

best analysis… floyd is safe in the hands of ellerbe and haymon. floyd will retire again! chickenshit!

  151. Sherly Zurkus Says:

Besides a couple of buildup fights against weaker opponents, he will fight Chuck and probably Babalu, maybe even Tito.

  152. mustang Says:

didn’t you all watch and hear what bob arum said on the post fight conference of manny and cotto’s fight? he said if mayweather wants to fight paquiao just call him and sing the contract.but golden boy promotion is not doing that.why?

  153. Weight Forum Says:

Hi there as i absolutely dig Your blog, I would feel very honored if i could post a short review about this webblog on my would you be ok with that? Weight Forum is my main interest.
