Sampson Lewkowicz, adviser of Sergio Martinez, recently sat down with FightHype.com to discuss the many options of the newly-crowned middleweight champion, who also holds a title in the jr. middleweight division. Not surprisingly, the two biggest names in the sport were brought up in the interview, however, Lewkowicz is of the opinion that only one of them would realistically consider a showdown with the two-division champion. “Manny will never do it because really he’s too small,” he commented, making note of the size advantage that Martinez would have. That being said, he doesn’t seem to think that difference in size would come into play for any other welterweight. “I would not be surprised if the winner of Mayweather-Mosley might want to fight Sergio,” added Lewkowicz. “It would be a big money fight for everyone.”
While those fights are well and good, the most likely scenarios for Martinez are fights with guys that currently campaign in his own middleweight divisions. The most obvious bout would be an immediate rematch with Pavlik, assuming the former champion doesn’t decide to move up in weight after having a difficult time making the 160-pound limit. “It’s up to his management to make a decision,” said Lewkowicz. “He has thirty days to decide on the rematch.” There’s also the possibility of a rematch with the winner of the May 8th bout between Paul Williams and Kermit Cintron, two fights that were surrounded by controversy. Martinez lost a narrow decision to Williams in a bout that many thought he won and was awarded a draw against Cintron in a bout that ultimately should have been stopped in the seventh round after Cintron seemingly failed to beat the count. Those are two fights that Lewkowicz readily admits that Martinez is interested in, stating, “We’d want Paul Williams soon, but he has a tough fight on May 8th against Kermit Cintron.”
But ultimately, it’s a much older grudge that Martinez is hoping to bring some closure to. “Sergio believes that Margarito beat him fair and square, regardless of what people say about the gloves; Margarito was the better fighter that night,” said Lewkowicz, who hinted at the possibility of a long-overdue rematch with former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. “After so many years, Sergio has improved so much and really wants that rematch. I believe that would be a great fight to have in Dallas. Jerry Jones is a mastermind of ticket sales and I believe it could sell as well as the last Pacquiao fight.”
Indeed, the options for Martinez appear to be limitless after his impressive win over Kelly Pavlik, however, I would expect his next bout to be a rematch with a man his own size before either of the top pound-for-pound fighters are willing to step into the ring with him. Of course, Manny Pacquiao does like a challenge, so if I had to lean towards one of them stepping into the ring with the middleweight champion, I could definitely see Pacquiao doing it before Mayweather.

It would be difficult for Pacquiao to go up in weight because of his height. I would say, welterweight should be his max.

floyd will never fight martinez, he will be fighting the likes of campbell, paulie or even call out calderon. martinez got robbed on that fight with williams and cintron. the pacman, cotto, martinez, will fight boxers that floyd will duck just like he ducked the pacman and blame it on the pacman, but if you look at whom floyd fought, it is clear that he is the ducker.

floyd will never try to fight martinez. his speed and movement will be a big problem for floyd. and floyd is gay (according to mosley). floyds balls is tide behind his ass so you know, he wont take the fight.

Martinez is bigger but not fast like Pacquiao,Mayweather and Mosley.if he is stay in his Division I think he has a chances to win against Pacquiao or Floyd. If he goes down to weight,He has no chance to win.

Pacquiao can fight Martinez at 151 lbs title fight. What can you say about that Mr.Lewkowicz? Im sure mayweather will stay at 147/140 lbs until he retires.Go Mosley!

myk’s expose (the mystery behind no.2)
Mosley agreed to follow the script of GBP and mayweather in 2 conditions 1.)that he’s championship belt will not be at stake and 2.)a couple of $M dollars on top of whatever amount he gets from the fight, to be paid in advance for his nose job and other (luxurious) spendings.
i don’t know if some of you have notice these 2 things nowdays:
1.) mayweather’s mouth becomes louder and louder than before. To show to the world that he’s really the best, claiming that he’s greater than ali, and robinson…than hercules, the kraken even zeus.
2.) the time of announcement that the fight in may 1st is a non-title bout. Is there any of you wonder why it was made so late when it can be made right after the contract is signed? He issued a statement that he doesn’t care about belts but for the money, coz he doesn’t want to pay sanctioning fees to those he called alphabets in the sport. The lamest excuse of all time.
The design was to have a sure win over mosley for 2 obsessions, i mean objectives: 1.)to fraudly cement his legacy and 2.)insanely demand the p4p title w/o fighting and beating pacquiao to elevate himself out from being no.2

Let Pacquiao stay in the Welterweight division. Much as I like and respect him, I don’t believe he has a chance against Martinez. Let’s face it - we have to respect a guy who knocked down Paul Williams, a much bigger opponent. If Sergio has to fight a Welterweight, let it be Margarito.
