 During a conference call to promote his upcoming fight, Floyd Mayweather called into question the careers of Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao when a reporter asked him where he thought both fighters would rank among the all-time greats of the sport. “I can’t see how a guy like Mosley can even call himself great or I can’t see Mosley talking about putting himself as a Hall of Famer and this is a guy we don’t know how long he was taking enhancement drugs. This is something that we don’t know,” Mayweather remarked in a sarcastic tone. When it came to Manny Pacquiao, however, he had a lot more to say, making it a point to critique a good portion of Pacquiao’s career.
“And, okay, Manny Pacquiao struggled twice, which we really know he got beat, struggled twice with Marquez, which we know he really lost. Right? And we know he been knocked out twice and he got outboxed by Erik Morales, but then they still give him Boxer of the Decade. So that’s another thing I don’t understand,” Mayweather added, sounding irritated, perhaps jealous of some the attention and recognition that Pacquiao has received. “He beat a Miguel Cotto who just got pummelled with a cast, so, I mean, tell me what it really is? He beat a Miguel Cotto who got pummelled with a cast and he beat a Ricky Hatton that got stretched by me. So, I mean, I’m trying to find out what it really is. That’s not for me to choose. That’s not for me to put him in the Hall of Fame.”
Mayweather would then go on to give a message to all fighters, but it was almost as though he was directing it towards Pacquiao himself, stating, “All I’m saying is this, if you’re a clean athlete, take the test. That’s all I’m saying. That’s all I got to say. If you’re a clean athlete, take the test. Show the world. You know what? I’m a natural. Take the test, that’s all I’ll say.” I think it’s clear that although he’ll be stepping into the ring with Shane Mosley on May 1, it’s really Manny Pacquiao that gets the blood boiling and really brings out the anger in Mayweather. Although I’m sure there’s a lot of fans that are really rooting for Shane Mosley, there’s also got to be a small part of you that’s hoping for a Mayweather victory and eventual showdown with Manny Pacquiao.

Being great doesn’t necessarily mean not having a lost but how you deal with the lost and fighting quality boxers and ended up triumphant against all odds. If you’re not fighting good competitors like Pacquiao and Mosley did in most of their careers then how can you say you are great? He knocked Hatton in ten but Pacquiao did it in two. He won by split margin against Dela Hoya but Pacquiao retired him for good in just 8 rounds. Yeah, he won unanimously against Marquez, but was it a fair fight? He won the bout even before they got up the ring. Great boxers go for the glory and not for the money alone..

Can anyone from the media have the guts to say straight forward to his face that…Manny didn’t refused to take the test. He even agreed to be tested right after the match. I don’t get what floyd is talkin about. It is not Pacquiao who presented himself to be nominated and eventually won the honor of Boxer of the Decade, it is the BWAA panel who happens to be Americans. Funny thing is despite the BWAA are American why Floyd was not chosen? For a simple reason Pac is way, way better than Floydie. And Floyd always mentioned the fight with Ricky Hatton that he demolished first before Pac but the question is did he have a fight with Cotto or Clottey? The answer is big NO because he is afraid. That drug testing KFC is pushing is not even in the list of agenda in the first place. He used it to duck Manny and he has no right to demand it to any fighter who wants to fight him. There’s already a commission doing that. Unless he want to be a commissioner of that. If he’s truly cleaning the sports he should also require those undercard fights to undergo same test. How can you clean the sports if you are fighting two boxer a year. He should push it so people will believe in his advocacy. That’s how great Manny is, you will think he is into something. Why does Floyd Mayweather keep on insisting that Manny Pacquiao does not want to take the test when it was clear that Manny is amenable to be tested right after the fight at his locker room? All I know is, Floyd will try to avoid Manny as long as he can because he knows he is going to be beaten. Manny may or may not knock him out, but he will outpunch and outpoint Mayweather. Floyd throws out punches like 80 per rounds whereas Manny throws like an average of 200 per rounds. And why would he demand the the drug test as a precondition to the fight. He’s not the champ, he’s not the P4P king. Manny should be the one demanding for a pre fight condition, like shutting his mouth up if he can’t back it up.

Why did Mayweather fight Oscar DelaHoya who already lost twice and was possibly ruined (but silly but i am using Mayweather’s logic), by Shane Mosely, and brutally KO already by Hopkins.
Why did Mayweather fight Zab Judah who was already brutally KO by Kostya Tsyu and lost already to Carlos Baldomir and Cory Spinks?
Why did Mayweather fight Gatti who was already old and was through many wars with Micky Ward, and lost to a few others before fighting Mayweather?
Notice that DelaHoya, Zab Judah, Gatti, Marquez are among Floyd’s “signature” fights.
But those guys were already beaten before they fought Floyd, and got beat much worse.
So what does that make Mayweather’s legacy if he is unbeaten against a bunch of guys past the prime of their careers?

Anyone in the boxing worl has the right to questions any boxer’s legacy…so in his defense Floyd Mayweather Jr, the only undefeated boxer is well in his right to question the legacy of Mosley and/or Pacquiao. Mosley is one of the most prolific fighter of our generation. He is fast, articulate and very much respected by most of his peers and besides he hails from California… how cool is that. Pacquiao, what can you say about the most exciting and dynamic boxer the world has ever seen. Enough said, Mosley and Pacquiao are no doubt Boxing Hall of Fame material can anyone really say the same about Floyd Mayweather Jr…. I think someone can, himself, big floyd and uncle roger… but all three people have questionable traits, the son is a pain killer abuser, the father is a drug abuser and the uncle is a women abuser. pac knocked out morales 2/3 times, as for the controversial marquez bouts, he knocked him down 3 times in one round and one judge even admitted to scoring the fight wrong afterward, and in the second fight the knockdown was the deciding factor, so i don’t know why people keep saying that pac lost both since he got robbed the first fight, and although it was a close match, knocked marquez down to edge him out so drop it. as for the miguel cotto fight, after the margarito fight he went on to out edge clottey, one of the strongest welterweights in the division and who wasn’t cloistered up the whole time like he was w/ pac, so how can you question that? lets look at mayweather’s record (sure 0 losses), but he fought a fat marquez (making him climb up 2 weight classes) and even came up overweight. and his fight w/ de la hoya, wasn’t a dominant fight, it was a close split decision, and instead of fighting de la hoya again while he was still in his prime he retired. there were plenty of welterweights coming up at the time, but mayweather never took a shot. the boxing fans and fate forced him in a corner when shane mosely became available. imagine where we’d be if the haiti disaster never took place, and mayweather was left w/o a dancing partner, who would he fight? malignaggi? ricky hatton? marquez 2? or maybe he’d retire again.

Soon Floyd’s mind and mouth would be out of control and I begin to doubt if fight on May 1st with Mosley is going to happen. Why? He refuse sanctioning fee, his HBO training video didn’t show much of his punching power on heavy bag and were in slowmo. I’m expecting him to show 5-15 mins non stop on punching bag. Let me just answer a few, if PBF sucks because he didnt fight the opponents you wanted him to fight then I guess the same can be said about Calzagee, he went undefeated fighting only in Europe never really fighting a well known opponent in there prime. For those who keep saying PBF beat JMM due to weight, you are really stupid cuz weight had nothing to do with that fight that was all speed. Not only that I didnt hear anyone complaining when Pac moved up to fight Oscar. JMM tried to do the same thing and it just didnt work for him. As far as PBF picking opponents goes it doesnt matter cause he still had to go through the champion to get a title. So he had to fight who was considered the best in that weight class regardless of how he got there, he beat the best at that class to receive the belt. He always compares his win over Hatton with Pac’s. Damn, Hatton was leading on the scorecards early on in the fight and actually staggered “da Mouth”. Pacquiao did not say he refused to take the test. He said take the blood on the days not getting in a way of his training.
Pacquiao is a perfectionist and he won’t have anything to do with Floydie demand to take the blood during the heat of his training and sparring. Take all the blood you need to test 3 weeks before the fight and right after the fight. He said if he is dirty it will show. (Its a dare!)

A Mayweather win will doom the fight with Manny because his head will get larger than what all of us can imagine. It simply will not happen. Might aswell root for Mosley to win because that would humble him and bring him back to his senses. Manny has already stated that he does not need Floyd more that Floyd needing him. He has gotten all the awards that Floyd would have gotten in his lifetime. floyd is bitter of something that he thinks rightfully belongs to him. However, a good chunk of the voters for this coveted award (fighter of the Decade) cannot be wrong at all. What Floyd needs is to prove them wrong and so he must fight Manny. If he gets beat by shane, He needs to fight Manny all the more and hope to win so that he can somehow level off the loss to mosley, or he can gamble and fight mosley again which would be a calamity in the making because of the tremendous pressure he puts onto himself all the time. He is really in the most difficult of circumstance today. As for mosley, a defeat is not as much since the majority of the public already has perceived it to be the case. So the pressure is on Floyd. Mosley agreed to follow the script of GBP and mayweather in 2 conditions 1.)that he’s championship belt will not be at stake and 2.)a couple of $M dollars on top of whatever amount he gets from the fight, to be paid in advance for his nose job and other (luxurious) spendings.
i don’t know if some of you have notice these 2 things nowdays:
1.) mayweather’s mouth becomes louder and louder than before. To show to the world that he’s really the best, claiming that he’s greater than ali, and robinson…than hercules, the kraken even zeus.
2.) the time of announcement that the fight in may 1st is a non-title bout. Is there any of you wonder why it was made so late when it can be made right after the contract is signed? He issued a statement that he doesn’t care about belts but for the money, coz he doesn’t want to pay sanctioning fees to those he called alphabets in the sport. The lamest excuse of all time.
The design was to have a sure win over mosley for 2 obsessions, i mean objectives: 1.)to fraudly cement his legacy and 2.)insanely demand the p4p w/o fighting and beating pacquiao elevate himself from being no.2
I just can’t believe on some boxing scribes echoes every floyd’s yap.
